Pure Michigan: Matson’s Fisheries

Michigan's Munising Bay has been home to the Matson Fishery since 1898. As a sixth-generation tribal family, they proudly stand as one of the first commercial operations licensed to fish the Michigan waters of Lake Superior. Their legacy endures today as they provide their signature smoked lake trout and whitefish from the bounty of the big lake. This image series was captured on assignment for the summer 2025 tourism campaign for the state alongside MMGY Global and production company, Gorilla Pictures.
